My blog discipline-- already buckling last fall-- completely collapsed this spring, when I even ran out of stockpiled book reviews. The spring semester (when I teach four composition classes) is always a tough one, and for reason this one seemed tougher than most. It isn't just my writing that's suffered; my 2020 reading logs are at an all time low. (Probably. I actually haven't done the comparisons to check yet.)
And then the novel coronavirus came along.

A key part of homeshooling has been learning who these babies are. |
We're safe and well. Things here have actually been going okay, for certain values of okay. UT went on-line, Hayley's high school went on-line, Little Buddy's daycare closed. So now we both have as much work to do as normal, if not more, and we have to take care of an intensive toddler on top of it all. We've been trading off: one day I'll watch him in the morning while Hayley works, and she'll watch him in the afternoon while I work. Then in the evening, after he goes to sleep, we both work. What fun! But this leaves little time for other pursuits.
But I have finally stockpiled lessons through the end of the semester and taken care of some other critical tasks, so I can finally turn my attention to other things, like reading for the Hugo Awards and blogging, when I have the spare moments and energy.
I plan to start catching up now, when I can. We'll see how things go! I want to cover my Hugo reading while my thoughts are fresh, and then I'll transition into catching up on both books and life and other stuff.
