Pick of the month: That Was Then, This Is Now by S. E. Hinton. Sometime I find determining these things easy; sometimes, I have to dump everything into Preference Revealer and see what emerges after a series of one-on-one match-ups. This was one of the latter months, with Thor: The Mighty Avenger, The Lifted Veil, Brother Jacob, and Passing all vying for the top spot, and plus I read some really solid stuff, like The Stuff of Dreams and Persepolis Rising. But That Was Then, This Is Now won out, and I can't complain about that: simpler than The Outsiders in some ways, but again nuanced in its depiction of what it means to grow up, and surprisingly dark in spots. And it's not like The Outsiders is cheerful!

A pretty productive month. I was worried by some big and/or slow books early on (Hothouse and Persepolis Rising), but near the end of the month, I zipped through five books in as many days, making up for it. And many of them were actually on my reading list!
All books on "To be read" list: 661 (down 2)
