Reading Roundup Wrapup: May 2023

Pick of the month: I Shall Wear Midnight by Terry Pratchett. I've enjoyed all the Tiffany Aching books to various degrees, usually high ones, but this was definitely my favorite, really digging into what the difficult work of witchcraft actually is.

  1. I Shall Wear Midnight by Terry Pratchett
  2. Lost Places: Stories by Sarah Pinsker
  3. Ojo in Oz by Ruth Plumly Thompson, illustrated by John R. Neill
  4. Moreta: Dragonlady of Pern by Anne McCaffrey
  5. American Splendor: Our Movie Year by Harvey Pekar
  6. The Conjure-Man Dies: A Mystery Tale of Dark Harlem by Rudolph Fisher
  7. Nerilka’s Story: A Pern Adventure by Anne McCaffrey
  8. The Shepherd’s Crown by Terry Pratchett
  9. Dragonsdawn by Anne McCaffrey
  10. The Chronicles of Pern: First Fall by Anne McCaffrey
  11. Dragonseye by Anne McCaffrey

Good month! Plenty of Pern novels, but a few more things besides, including two Discworld books.

All books acquired:

  1. Star Trek: Prey, Book 2: The Jackal's Trick by John Jackson Miller
  2. Star Trek: The Unsettling Stars by Alan Dean Foster

And I only picked up just two books!

Currently reading:

  • Twenty-First Century Science Fiction edited by David G. Hartwell and Patrick Nielsen Hayden

Next up in my rotations:

  1. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: The Missing by Una McCormack
  2. Star Trek: The Next Generation #7: Masks by John Vornholt
  3. William Shakespeare Punches a Friggin' Shark and/or Other Stories by Ryan North
  4. These Heroic, Happy Dead by Luke Mogelson

Books remaining on "To be read" list: 673 (down 2)

That's five months in a row with no increase, which hasn't happened for almost five years! I anticipate an increase next month, though.
