Reading Roundup Wrapup: July 2019

Pick of the month: Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik. Ain't it the way of it? Months and months where I have one "pretty good" book as an obvious best... and then a month where I read not just one excellent book, but two! It was hard for me to pick between Spinning Silver (a finalist for the 2019 Hugo Award for Best Novel) and Jeanette Winterson's The Gap of Time (a SantaThing gift), as both were moving, insightful, gorgeously written books. I ended up settling on Spinning Silver because I felt it stuck the landing better than Gap of Time did. (Not that Gap had a bad ending, just that it began more strongly than it ended.)

All books read:
1. Star Trek: Typhon Pact: Brinkmanship by Una McCormack
